[ Farm Land (Central Gippsland) ] Central Gippsland provides the perfect environment and offers many wonderful facilities. An irrigation and timber district, the area is rich in Arts, Crafts and History with many attractions and special events for you to enjoy. Many wineries are established in the region, with each offering a delightful variety of world class wines.

It is the gateway to the Gippsland Lakes and wetlands system and within easy reach to the wonderful 90 mile beach, with it's endless unbroken sands as far as the eye can see.
The area is ideal for bird watching, throughout the wetlands region, or fishing, with good catches in the Lakes System, or on many of the rivers and streams that feed the system.

The river Avon, with it's broad gravelled bed, (regarded highly by rock hounds for its gem stones) is a great place to fossick and explore.

To the north of Heyfield and beyond the popular Lake Glenmaggie, the Macalister River Valley road to Licola, twists beside green river pastures to the foot of the Alps. A popular tourist road providing some of the most picturesque foothill scenery along the great dividing range.

At the heart of the region is the dairying area of Maffra. A small but picturesque town, with it's main street of old buildings, with their distinctive architectural character and lined with majestic claret ash and golden poplars.

The city of Sale, the capital of Central Gippsland. is situated on the once busy inland port on the Latrobe river. The popular Howitt Bicycle Trail begins and ends in Sale and it is also home to the famous Marley Point Yacht Race, a popular and well attended overnight race held on the Gippsland Lakes, beginning near Sale and concluding at Paynesville.
